Hi, I’m Mia, a fourth-grade teacher and a single mother to my son, Luke. After five years of raising him mostly alone, I recently met Jake, a fellow teacher who loves kids. Although I was nervous about introducing him to Luke, I decided it was time.
When I asked Luke if he wanted to meet someone special, he seemed curious but cautious. Our first lunch together was at a pizzeria, where Jake quickly bonded with Luke over Legos and dinosaurs.
As our relationship grew, Jake invited us to his parents’ house by the ocean. It was a warm, nostalgic place, and Luke was excited to explore. However, things took a turn when Luke panicked after finding a box of bones under Jake’s bed. We rushed out, fearing something sinister.
After a stressful drive, I learned from the police that the bones were fake, used for teaching. I felt guilty for jumping to conclusions and called Jake to apologize. Thankfully, he understood and invited us back, turning the incident into a funny memory.
Now, our bond is stronger, and we often laugh about that day.
